Summer is here and has started… Birds are chirping, the sun is high up in the sky. One would think that we should go out and have fun, but alas for us in MS we are stuck with our lappie/desktop just so we could go releasing like fanatics because its our month. A year has passed us by rather quickly…I still can’t believe we already have been in the community for 2 years ;O What sheer power we have xD We’ve grown up *gasps* with loads of shoujo and smut series

As we start our daily release to commemorate MS 2nd year, we have decided to bring you smut and shoujo release whether its rain or shine. All release will be at IRC so…please head on there and instead of asking for ddls…

On to our releases :

1. Aiomou Hito – Sex Friend : Yoshino is caught up in between two males, one who is her senpai whom she has loved since middle school and another is Haru, her classmate and her sex friend? Who will Yoshino choose in the end? This is also a joint with Divine Sanctuary
2. Yukisaki Koisaki : Chiho is a strict class rep who harbor a secret crush to her popular classmate, Tomohiro. Suddenly, he confessed to her when he’s under hypnotism. Is the confession real, or is it because he’s hypnotized?
3. Aiomou Hito – Sex Friend : Another joint with Divine Sanctuary. In this chapter, its the female who is doing all the action. Pulling the boy whom she had confessed, for a kiss…Personally, I felt for a moment, she was stalking her student o.o” …so what will become of this Teacher x Student relationship? Will it blossom or waiver?

In conjunction besides celebrating our 2 years anniversary, today is one of our most important staff’s birthday…so =D HAPPY BITRTHDAY Yume…without you, we will never have our smut… let’s all pay our homage to her for being such a pretty and talented cleaner giving us Smut *_*… To celebrate her birthday, these are the release we have for her…

1. Ayakashi Koi Emaki : Another joint with Divine Sanctuary. This is 2nd chapter of Ayakashi. We continue on with Miiko and Kagura’s journey as they forged a relationship between human and spiritual being LOL…alright I just not quite what do I call Kagura… Yes he is a bishie..but I much prefer his chibi self.
2. Yukisaki Koisaki : Yet another extra from Kayoru. This extra contains the “student x teacher ” plot. When Hattori told Natsu, that he preferred to girls who are more than virgins, I guess got miffed and decided to not give up “chasing after” the teacher until…
3. Shirotae no Kimi Hanagasumi : When I showed this to my staffs last year, they all shouted bishie…but I was shouting yakuza!!! This proove female power too since there the yakuza’s sandaime is actually a female. Will the promise between Miki and Saaya as master and slave come between they blossoming love?

It was a fun, crazy and very over whelming week for me.

From the news of coalition that sounds so serious, to hearing comments from my staffs about it and then to Ai’s decision of closing NBM doors, and an important staff forced to resign from MS.

As any leecher, I can understand where is Ai’s going, being fearful for her and the staff’s safety and moreoever with college woes hanging right about… I guess it was consider as a good timing in many different ways. However, we( Yuki and I) at Midnight Scans, still think we should let NBM goes totally poof, so we ( Yuki and I) sat down with some the staffs and said, “Do we want to take over their projects for them…help them finish it despite our long list which seems undone to the public (Yes…most the stuffs on Upcoming/Future are almost done but hey we are taking our sweet to “enjoy” scanlating)?” There goes maganimous votes coming from all sides saying, we should help NBM finished their release…Thus off we go and offer to take their projects…

Somehow…while we took on their projects…their staffs came running for us…So…in the end… I am now an “adopted” parent to all this new “adopted” childrens…They certainly took me by storm, overwhelming me with their presence, making me go LOL every 2 seconds… This fait acompli eh~

As the coalition stuff has happened, one of our most important staff was forced to resigned. Therefore, at the moment we are no longer taking any more future Proofreaders until I’ve comfortably handling over the whole PR division. Its really sad how to see now scanlation is no longer being in the grey area…What ever will happened to scanlations in future? Its because that the future in scanlation is so bleak thus the staffs and I have decided to go hide <3. We hope to survive this through and through...

To clarify to all the leechers out there...
We adopted NBM's babies because we can't leave them neglected and to wait for months or even years to be introduced to you and also, to make good use of the chapters that are already done by NBM which could not be release in time.
As a sidenote, I prefer not see anymore stuff like, "Drop XXX and let other awesome groups do it". We want to share out our love of manga with you so stop the comments about moving on with the projects. Believe me, there is no one in this world who wants to speed up on MS releases more than me. Show us your support and not negativism...

On to this weekend's releases :

1. Lovey Dovey : The relationship of Saika and Shin evolves to “play tag”… I guess… I am not in a mood to summarize this manga since…I’m about to have heart attack…

Okay, due to one and many circumstances. It’s me who stand here to announce to you guys that from now on, Midnight Scans won’t put any direct download in the site.

We took this decision since the current issue about how Japanese and US Publishers are making a coalition to go against scanlation aggregators. We know we’re not being targeted and probably you think that we’re just overreacted, but no, we’re doing this to protect ourselves. Selfish, you say? I don’t deny that. But before this all goes to accusation on who’s wrong or right and we all being judgmental. Let me lay some points first.

First, the main reason why we scanlate is because our love for manga, not for (e)fame or glory, or maybe even money. Seriously, all those aren’t our purpose. We just want you to know more about these titles we’re currently work on and when it’s licensed in any country where you are, we encourage you to buy those titles and support the mangakas. Let’s put scanlation as a “preview” before you buy the hardcopy.

Second, Scanlation has been gray and non gray area from the very start. Whether we bought the magazine/tankoubon by our money or we leech through winny or any p2p service, scanlation is a double edged sword. I won’t justify or trying to put scanlation in the positive light. Even though it is a positive activity, a good way to spend our leisure time, plus it helps others to know more mangas. But still, scanlation crossed the legal/illegal border by the time we start distributing our releases. Whether by mailing list (way back then when scanlating world was still new) or through numerous online reading sites nowadays.
Know where my points are going? Good.

Third, Thanks to the huge fuss that happened lately about the scanlation aggregators and such, the staffs talked about the next step we should take. And we came to the decision to take all of the ddls and to go completely underground on IRC. Again, please understand that we’re taking this step as a precaution. We’re not that popular, true, but sad fact, even now, being unpopular as we are, when we said no hoster or online reading shall host our projects, there is someone who download through irc and upload them there. If you want to read our release, you can always come to our irc channel and download there. Don’t know how to use irc, click on the irc tutorial in the side menu. Or just come to irc to hang around and/or ask, there are always some people there whom you can talk to. And we always love to reply your short hellos. We don’t bite

We prefer IRC since it’s relatively safe and pretty much hidden, where hands of the authorities won’t be able to reach us. The IPs are hidden, and scanlator’s channels are considered to be nonexistent. So yeah, say hi to irc

Again, please understand and respect our wish. It’s for the love for manga, not anything else, we gain nothing from this except personal satisfaction. And I hope that’s what you get when you read our projects and see our works as a preview for the actual hard copy in your country.
Anyhow, enough with this explanation. Next, we have a new release.

On another note, our head proofreader, Yuki is currently on break due to her summer cold, so all proofreaders applicants’ test results are still pending until she gets better. And we still need more cleaners/editors/typesetters for our various shoujo/smut projects. Come apply and not post comments about when should release…
